    Homophobic/Heterosexist Works
(This is a small sample of the vast literature of social hatred)

Paul Cameron & Kenneth P. Ross, "Social Psychological Aspects of the Judeo-Christian Stance
toward Homosexuality", Journal of Psychology and Theology, vol. 9, 1981, pp. 40-57.
Cameron is read and used by all religious extremists. Suspect all his statisitics and his facts; much of
what he writes is quackery.

Paul Cameron, What Causes Homosexual Desire and Can it Be Changed?, Washington, D.C.,
Family Research Institute, 1992.
Most religious extremists base their statistics and facts on his works. Cameron was censored and
expelled by the American Psychologcial Association.

James P.Hanigan, Homosexuality : The Test Case For Christian Sexual Ethics, New York, Paulist
Press, 1988.
Maintains the Catholic party line.

John F. Harvey, "Homosexuality", in The New Catholic Encyclopedia, Vol. 7, New York, McGraw-Hill,
1967, pp. 117-119.
Harvey's early article shows that he has been consistently homophobic over several decades.

John F. Harvey, The Homosexual Person : New Thinking in Pastoral Care, San Francisco, Ignatius
Press, 1987.
Harvey, the founder of Courage, does not believe that homosexuals can change and requires
enforced celibacy. He does not offer an cases of happy, celibate homosexuals.

Norman Lamm, "Judaism and the Modern Attitude Towards Homosexuality," Encyclopedia Judaica
Yearbook, 1974, pp. 194-205.
Lamm reviews traditional Jewish sources on homosexually and finds it unacceptable to standing
Jewish practice.

Norman Lamm, "Judaism and the Modern Attitude to Homosexuality", in Jewish Bioethics, ed. F.
Rosner & J.D. Bloch, (New York: Sanhedrin Press, Hebrew Publishing Co, 1979), 197-218
Lamm takes a hard-line about homosexuality and the Jewish community.

Enrique F. Rueda, The Homosexual Network: Private Lives and Public Policty, Old Greenwich CT,
1982.
By a Cuban Roman Catholic priest, this 680 page is the largest assemblage of homophobic
arguments and "bs" that you will ever read. You wonder if he had a previous life in Nazi Germany.

Tom Schmidt, Straight & Narrow: Compassion & Clarity in the Homosexuality Debate, Downers
Grove, Intervarsity Press, 1995.
Schmit's book exhibits neither compassion nor clarity. He examines much of gay/lesbian theological
and biblical discourse and argues against. It is a carefully argued heterosexist book but with
prejudiced ideology and many inaccurate citations. See the devastating critical review by Cleve
Evans in the Presbyterian More Light Update.

Marion L. Soards, Scripture & Homosexuality, Louisville, The Westminster? John Knox Press, 1995.
Soards concedes the Hebrew texts are not applicable to homosexuals but draws the line around Paul
and Jesus with a creationist homophobia. He welcomes gays/lesbians into the church as sinners but
does not accept blessing their relationships or recognizing their call to ministry.
