Glaser envisions a hopeful spirituality for gays/lesbians who feel exiled from their churches.

McNeil explores spiritual and psychological supports that gays/lesbians can use to free themselves
from internalized self-hatred to celebrate gay/lesbian virtues such as hospitality, compasssion, and
creativity.

John J. McNeill, Freedom, Glorious Freedom, Boston, Beacon Press, 1995.
McNeill builds on his earlier develop of spirituality by stressing the need for gays/lesbians to cultivate
a direct relationship with God to find their place in the world. McNeil translates the best of Jesuit
spirituality into understandable concepts and practices for gay/lesbian Christians.

Melanie Morrison, Spirituality, Sexuality, & The Struggle for Justice, Cleveland, Pilgrim Press, 1995.
As a lesbian and a Christian, Morrison calls on the church to welcome wounded lesbians and gays
who have been alienated and harmed by homophobic church.

James B.Nelson, The Intimate Connection, Philadelphia: Male Sexuality, Masculine Spirituality, The
Westminster Press, 1988.
Nelson explores male spirituality, sexuality, homophobia, and violence. He calls for new ways for a
sexual spirituality.

Craig O'Neill & Kathleen Ritter, Coming Out Within: Stages of Spiritual Awakening for Lesbians and
Gay Men, HarperSanFrancisco, 1992.
O'Neill and Ritter articulate a developmental spirituality based on loss and working through grief.
