Sightseeing in
KENYA and
UGANDA
The motorcycle:
the best mode of
tranportation in
Kampal, a city
known for its traffic
jams! (It's an OK
ride if you don't
mind holding tight
to the driver.)
Monkies
At times we saw as
many as seven
monkies all at once at
Red Chilli, chattering,
running, chassing
each other and
tumbling.  Now we
know what "monkey
business" and "see
monkey, do monkey"
means.
The Pool
It was a small pool, but
very relaxing and
refreshing.  Late at night
we had it all to ourselves!
Jose enjoyed bird
watching (below and
below right) while
Steve typed reports
for Other Sheep
(right).
Two Standards of Living
A walk outside our
compound revealed the
extreem two standards of
living:  The very wealthy have
beautiful homes in gated
communities, while others
live in abject poverty, both
along side of each other.  It
was very hard to see.  (This
is also true in Kenya.)  The
poverty I saw here in
Uganda is much more
extensive than what I saw in
Mexico or South America (on
previous trips).  More than
once the poor living
conditions brought me and
Jose to tears.
Hard at Work:
Jose, who is not a
morning person,
made the
observation that the
local people (whom
we saw on a
morning walk) are up
early and hard at
work.  And they most
certainly are.
Our last night:
At last the economical room
was available.  We got it for a
third of the price of the cottages.

Lake Victoria which

Two Safari vehicals
are
situated in the background
behind Jose.  These
vehicals port people and
gear (tents for two, cooking
utensils, food, etc.) and
travel accross regions of
Africa.  The white Safari
vehical will go all the way to
South Africa.  They are
making a stop over here
just for the night.
