Dr. K. Renato Lings, Biblical scholar, author and Other Sheep Coordinator for Europe, will be in the United States, on the east coast, from October 17 until December 3, 2013. His expected itinerary is New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Baltimore. Dr. Lings is seeking opportunities to meet with Jewish and Christian LGBT groups and personalities to discuss common concerns and interests. Particularly, he looks forward to sharing some of the insights contained in his latest book Love Lost in Translation: Homosexuality and the Bible (Trafford Publishing, Bloomington, IN 2013). “I grew up in a Lutheran environment in the western part of Denmark. At age 23 I joined the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and came out at age 24. Currently I belong to the International Church of Copenhagen (ecumenical), where I chair the Christian education committee. My university degrees are in Spanish, translation, and theology. I have lived and worked in several countries in Europe and the Americas. In addition to my native Danish, I speak English, Spanish, and Swedish, with some proficiency in French and German. I have studied classical languages such as Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Nahuatl (Aztec).
“I am a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the European Association of Biblical Studies, the Society for Old Testament Study, the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, and the international network Other Sheep.
