THE 2014 NEPAL BOOK PROJECT

The Children Are FreeYour financial gift to Other Sheep will go in its entirety to the project of translating into Nepali, and printing and distributing in Nepal, the book The Children Are Free: Reexamining the Biblical Evidence on Same-sex Relationships. This project is scheduled for completion for the summer of 2014, but we need your financial help to do it.

Rev. Stephen Parelli (Other Sheep Executive Director) and his husband Jose Ortiz (Other Sheep Coordinator for Asia and Africa) have made two successful ministry trips to Nepal (2009 and 2011) during which they had meetings with evangelical pastors and with leading non-sectarian LGBT human rights activists. Both have asked for The Children Are Free to be made available in Nepali for general distribution. As one leading human rights activists said to Steve and Jose in 2009:

“The Christian message on the TV airways in Nepal from a large evangelical church is this: ‘Christ can change the homosexual.’ This book will go a long way to show Nepali people that there are Christians who believe the Bible does not condemn homosexuals. We need this book here in Nepal because we need this alternative Christian viewpoint if for no other reason than to help keep relationships positive between Hindus and Christians on this issue of homosexuality.”

As of this letter to you, the translation is near completion and Nepal contacts are in place for the printing and distribution of the book in Nepal for the summer of 2014 when Steve and Jose plan to return to assist in its distribution.

Your gift – ear marked NEPAL BOOK PROJECT (“The Nepal Translation-Printing-Distribution Fund”) – will go directly to the translation, printing and distribution costs. No gift for the NEPAL BOOK PROJECT will go towards Steve and Jose’s cost for assisting in the distribution. Other sources of funding will be used for Steve and Jose’s personal costs to assist in the distribution in Nepal.

Every dollar you give to this project will go to create a hard copy of the book The Children Are Free in Nepali to put into the hands of questioning, inquisitive individuals who in turn will tell forth what he or she has read in this book. Change can happen one person at a time.
