ZIMBABWE, AFRICA. REV. MAXWELL MASTER as told to REV. STEPHEN PARELLI. APRIL 19, 2014.
The Zimbabwe chapter of Other Sheep Africa announced this week that the government of Zimbabwe has granted Other Sheep Africa -Zimbabwe Chapter official registration status.
Earlier this week, in an email to Rev. Stephen Parelli, Rev. Maxwell Master, Executive Director of Other Sheep Africa -Zimbabwe Chapter (email: firstname.lastname@example.org), expressed the near impossibility of an LGBT-focused organization receiving governmental recognition in Zimbabwe. In a second email dated April 19, Rev Masters said, “Rejoice with us as we celebrate the registration. It was a miracle. It is our gift for this Easter.” In the same email, Rev. Masters further told Parelli:
Other Sheep Africa –Zimbabwe Chapter is a vehicle for justice, inclusion and the reconciling and fighting for the recognition of the dignity and human worth of LGBTQI persons in our society, churches and mosques, and in families where LGBTQI persons live. We are motivated by our knowledge that it is our calling to embrace all, and that we have partners like Other Sheep globally (www.othersheep.org) and Other Sheep Africa led by Rev. Michael Kimindu of Nairobi, Kenya. Zimbabwe needs Other Sheep. Religious bigotry needs to be challenged by the voice of reason. Other Sheep Africa will do just that. Please pray for us. It is not going to be easy but it is possible. Pray for our scheduled workshops around the country which are lined up for this year. With funding available, we hope to kick start the workshops this coming May.
