Aurelio

My name is Aurelio Lepe. I am from Madrid where I live with my partner Ángel. Born to Catholic parents, I have always been on a spiritual quest. I spent the years 1996-2000 in London (UK) where I decided to be baptized in the Evangelical Free Church. A few years later I began to discover progressive, inclusive Christianity.

In 2000 I returned to Madrid. I was part of the early phase (2005-2006) of Crismhom (Madrid Gay Christians). About 2007 I joined the Community of Hope, part of the Spanish Reformed Episcopal Church Anglican Communion – IERE, which is progressive and inclusive of LGBT people. I recently joined a group of believers studying Integral Transpersonal Transformation, where we read the works of interesting theologians and other writers.

I have been involved in different groups and communities of LGBT believers. In 2012 I took up the position of Coordinator of Religious Affairs at the FELGTB (Spanish State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals), where I was active for two years. It was a very interesting and intense time, which allowed me to co-host a series of lectures and workshops. In addition, we connected with organizations such as Redes Cristianas (Christian Networks of Spain), the European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups, etc. Currently I coordinate religious affairs at Cogam (Gay Collective of Madrid).

When I first came across Other Sheep, it was an eye-opener. Here was a supportive forum disseminating information about inclusive forms of Christianity that welcome LGBT people, their partners and their families. I am delighted to be associated with Other Sheep in the struggle to overcome sterile fundamentalism, which is caused by ignorance. I look forward to becoming acquainted with all of you over the coming months and years.

Warmly,

Aurelio
